The Pound is Kent's number one rated cocktail bar on TripAdvisor and has been voted by the public as Kent's Best Bar in the Muddy Stilettos Awards. Serving a spectacular range of handmade cocktails using premium ingredients and celebrating the best local products from Kent "The Garden of England".

The Pound is home to a very British menu and has an exciting list of local beers, ciders, English wine and houses one of the city's largest gin selections. 

The bar is set within Canterbury's atmospheric former c1830 city gaol, gaoler's house and c1907 police station, providing many unique settings to enjoy cocktails and our fine selection of drinks, including in the 3 beautifully restored former police cells. 

If you'd like to dine with us, our British Small Plates bar menu is served in the bar & on the riverside terrace and our Parade Room menu is available in our upstairs dining room The Parade Room.

The Table Service Bar

The Parade Room is open as a table service bar on Friday & Saturday evenings after our food service. Enjoy our exciting menu of handmade cocktails, premium spirit selection and delicious beers, delivered to your table so that you can focus on the important things whilst enjoying the atmospheric and one of a kind setting of The Parade Room. 

We're proud to stock the entire Chapel Down English Wine range in the Parade Room alongside the award winning Curious Brew & Curious IPA on draught. 

The Parade Room table service bar isn't bookable but please ask the host located in the cell corridor when you arrive and you'll be seated as soon as possible.

River Terrace

Our new riverside terrace is set along the picturesque bank of the River Stour with views of our adjoining Westgate Towers, England's largest serving Medieval gateway. The riverside terrace offers the perfect suntrap to enjoy refreshing drinks & to watch the bustle of the city.
